This project was inspired by the 12-hour Book Dash initiative, which provides free books to children in English and various African languages. My book (English and Zulu), based on the proverb "laughter is the best medicine," tells the story of four furry friends. On a gloomy day, they choose to play and laugh together. As their antics unfold, charming illustrations brighten, reflecting the joy they share. Despite the initial gloominess, their laughter transforms the day. Together, they realize the importance of friendship and laughter in brightening even the darkest moments. This heartwarming tale reminds readers of the healing power of joy and companionship.

In the illustrations, shades of pink, orange, blue, and purple dominate, symbolizing hope and brightness to captivate the viewer's (which are children's) attention. The green hues depict the lush grass, while light yellow shades adorn the cheerful flowers, adding to the overall optimistic atmosphere of the scenes. Through this colourful palette, the story's themes of joy, friendship, and resilience are vividly brought to life, inviting readers to immerse themselves in the uplifting world of the four furry friends.

Acre was chosen as the main font because it's easy to read and matches the sketch like feel and texture of my characters. For a playful touch, I used Chaloops for headings and quotes. This mix adds personality to the design while keeping everything clear and engaging.
